If any other form of data can be lost, your TikTok messages can too. This means you could lose your TikTok messages for any reason.

If you accidentally delete a TikTok message, is it gone forever? This article will tell you what you can do to access deleted messages.

Deleted TikTok messages can be found in the backup data section. This is where TikTok stores all account information. You can view your old messages by downloading a copy of your account information.

Why Do TikTok Messages Disappear?

It’s not uncommon for users to have their messages disappear from TikTok. This usually happens if their account has been banned or deleted. But it can also occur because of a problem with the app.

Here are several reasons why you can lose your messages.

The User Accidentally Deleted It.

You’re the only one who can control whether or not your TikTok messages get deleted. If you accidentally delete your messages, the worst that can happen is that all of them will be gone.

Be careful when deleting chats because all of the conversations you delete will be permanently deleted from your account. If you delete a chat by mistake, there are different methods to help you recover them.

Registering as a Fresh Account

TikTok users can experience data loss with their accounts. If you have encountered any issues with your account and had to register it again, all previous data, such as chats and messages, may be gone.

Registering your account again will look like a new account, and your messages will be deleted.

Banned Account

If TikTok bans your account because you broke their rules, you won’t be able to see your old chats and messages. TikTok has a lot of rules about what you can post and how you have to keep people’s information private, but if anyone doesn’t follow those rules, TikTok warns them and then bans their account.

This means that all your data will be erased, including the messages and chats you’ve sent or received.

This is a rare occurrence, but it can happen. If you are banned from TikTok, then your messages will be deleted. This can be problematic if you haven’t saved them anywhere else before the account is reactivated because they will give you no choice but to start over again.

How to Recover Deleted TikTok Messages

There is no way to undo the delete action directly, but you can follow these two methods to get your deleted TikTok messages back.

Step 01- Get a Backup of Your Data.

If you want to recover your deleted TikTok messages, the most effective way is to use data backup. Your TikTok account information is stored in the backup data, so your messages should be there too.

If you want your backup data, you can request it and send it to you while downloading it. The process is simple, but you’ll have to wait a while before getting the data.

How to Get Your TikTok Backup File

To get your TikTok data backup file, follow these steps:

Step 01: Go to the TikTok Platform and click on the three small dots at the top right-hand corner.

Step 02: Next, click on privacy.

Step 03: To get your data, click on the “download your data” button under personalization and data.

Step 04: Make sure you select JSON at the bottom, then click the pink “Request Data” button.

  • Once you request your data, you must wait 36 hours before downloading it.

Step 05: Once 24 to 36 hours have passed, you can go to the download data tab. There will now be a download button; click it to continue.

Step 06: When you click it, it’ll open a link in the web browser. You log in with your email or phone number, whichever you chose when you made your TikTok account.

Step 07: When you’re done with the codes, an option to download a file will appear. Click it to download your data.

Step 02: Restore Your Backup File to Recover the Messages.

Importantly, you’ll need the TikTok Recovery Tool to extract all your messages from TikTok backup data. Once you have downloaded the backups from TikTok, it should be as simple as opening the file with that software and letting it do its thing.

Step 03: Now wait a few seconds and click on show messages.

Step 04: Here are the conversations you got back from the account.

  • unfortunately TikTok doesn’t allow third-party tools to access its data, which means the outlined system will not work at the moment. Once we find a workaround, we’ll update this post.

Can You Delete Messages on TikTok

If you want to delete a message you’ve sent on TikTok, you have to press and hold the message in the inbox tab. The downside is that this doesn’t delete the message for the recipient.

Conversations are removed from your list if you delete them. The person you sent the messages to can see them regardless of this.

From what we know, it’s not yet clear if TikTok will eventually allow for the deletion of messages from both ends. For now, though, you can only delete messages from your device.
